Not long ago, after taking my final pay cheque to the bank for a deposit,
and shortly after the teller who had asked how I was doing: "They just closed my
call center!" I am then advised that I qualify for a credit card with
0% interest...
I've been approved for unemployment, but must
first exhaust my prior claim... of $183 a week. I spoke with Social
Services on Monday inquiring about assistance for rent ($700) for the
month of January, and I am advised: If you make more than $589 a month,
then you will not qualify...
When I've shared how much I will
currently receive on unemployment, the response is: "Oh that's enough to
cover your rent!!!" Really? I do have to pay for petrol, gas, water,
trash, electricity, food, insurance on my vehicle, toilet paper,
soap....
When I was looking for a place to rent (only because the
landlord at the time couldn't afford the house payments) I called up
about one place to find out more information. The amount is $900 a
month, I advised him that was above my budget (I was working at the
time) and he told me about all the updating and remodeling they did to
the home. I responded: Sounds lovely, but that doesn't change how much I
can afford!
I have a creditor call me on December 6th, once they identified themselves and was asking for payment, I advised them that
the statue of limitations have run out because the last time that I had
been active with that card is November 2008. Her response: Bank of
America is a huge corporation, so it doesn't apply!
